Clomiphene citrate and human chorionic gonadotropin are both effective in restoring testosterone in hypogonadism: a short-course randomized study
Habous M et al. · BJU international · 2018
The study reportedAll three treatments were equally effective in restoring testosterone levels. Single-agent CC is simple, cheap and may be used as treatment for hypogonadism when maintenance of fertility is desired. This approach seems to be as effective as either hCG alone or a combination of hCG and CC.
Late-onset hypogonadism: the advantages of treatment with human chorionic gonadotropin rather than testosterone
La Vignera S et al. · The aging male : the official journal of the International Society for the Study of the Aging Male · 2016
The study reportedFinally, all the groups treated with T showed a significant reduction (p < 0. 05) of sperm density and of percentage of spermatozoa with progressive motility compared with HCG group.
Gonadotropins for pubertal induction in males with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism: systematic review and meta-analysis
Alexander EC et al. · European journal of endocrinology · 2024
The study reportedThis systematic review provides convincing evidence of the efficacy of gonadotropins for pubertal induction. However, there remains substantial heterogeneity in treatment choice, dose, duration, and outcomes assessed. Formal guidelines and randomized studies are needed.
A combined analysis of data to identify predictive factors for spermatogenesis in men with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism treated with recombinant human follicle-stimulating hormone and human chorionic gonadotropin
Warne DW et al. · Fertility and sterility · 2009
The study reportedR-hFSH (combined with hCG) is effective for the restoration of fertility in the majority of men with HH.
