SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3)
Evidence profile: No indexed evidence identified
SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3) is a synthetic octapeptide developed as a topical alternative to botulinum toxin for reducing dynamic facial wrinkles. It works by mimicking the N-terminal end of SNAP-25 protein to competitively inhibit SNARE complex formation, thereby reducing acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction and attenuating the muscle contractions responsible for expression lines. Clinical studies demonstrate significant wrinkle depth reduction with consistent topical application, making it one of the most well-evidenced cosmetic peptides available. Unlike injectable neurotoxins, SNAP-8 is non-invasive, requires no recovery time, and is suitable for use on sensitive areas including the periorbital region.
