Adipotide (Prohibitin-TP01)

Evidence profile: Preclinical, with limited uncontrolled human reports

Adipotide (Prohibitin-TP01) is a chimeric peptidomimetic combining a targeting sequence (CKGGRAKDC) that binds prohibitin and annexin A2 on adipose endothelial cells with a pro-apoptotic mitochondrial-disrupting motif, D-(KLAKLAK)2. It was investigated in preclinical models of adiposity. Its development was HALTED following early clinical investigation because of renal safety findings — reversible proximal tubule toxicity observed in primate studies. It is not an approved medicine and is supplied strictly as a research compound for laboratory use.
